• Groove welds – deposited in a gap or groove between two parts to be connected e.g., butt, tee, and corner joints with beveled (prepared) edges • Partial penetration groove welds can be made from one or both sides with or without edge preparation. 6.2 Design of Welded Connections Fillet welds are most common and used in all structures.

classifiion of welding processes and types …

There are many types of welding techniques used to join metals. The welding processes differ in the manner in which temperature and pressure are coined and achieved. The welding process is divided into two major egories: Fusion Welding (General classifiion shown in figure 1) and; Pressure Welding (Classifiion shown in figure 2).

Welding Consumables - Part 5 - TWI

This specifiion classifies wire electrodes in the as-welded condition and in the post weld heat-treated condition, based on classifiion system, strength, Charpy-V impact strength, shielding gas and composition. The classifiion utilises two systems based either on the yield strength (System A) or the tensile strength (System B):

/a>

either or both classifiion designations can be used for the product. A wire electrode shall be classified according to its chemical composition as in Table 3A or Table 3B. A weld deposit shall be classified with additional syols according to the mechanical properties Of its all-weld metal, using a shielding gas from a specific group.
